My Blog offers some blogger templates. I had included a link back to this blog so that visitors can know from where the template has been downloaded. The good reason, the page had a good SERP rating so my templates are being used at many blogs.Some of them are having high PR's. A thought about keyword targeting struck my mind when I saw my blog reactions in Technorati.First, I included a link back to the template post with different keywords on different templates.I got the keywords from the Google results itself for "blogger templates" .

There are some other good sites targeting :"blogger templates" , to knock them of in the first page was quite a difficult task.So I started with smaller keywords like "new blogger templates" , "blogspot templates" & "3 column blogger templates".It took time for my post to get a decent ranking even with some 400 back links to the post itself.I also changes the default from "Download three column new blogger templates" to "New Blogger (XML) 3 column templates.The reason is here

18 Common mistakes to avoid when using Google AdSense

1. Never click your own adsense ads or get them clicked for whatever reason. You know this one very well. This is a surefire way to close you Adsense account. Never tell your office associates or friends to click on them. Keep a check if your family or children are busy increasing your income by clicking your ads and indirectly trying to stop your income. Dont even think of offering incentives for clicks, using automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software. Adsense is very smart to detect fraudulent clicks. Check the ads which appear on your pages by the Google Preview Tool if required.

2. Never change the Adsense code. There are enough means of adsense optimization & customizations available to change the colour, background or border to suit your needs. Do whatever you want to do outside the code, never fiddle within the ad or the search code. They know it when you do. The search code has more limitations to colour and placement, but you should adhere to the rules. The code may stop working and violates the TOS.

3. Do not place more than 3 ad units and 3 ad links or 2 adsense search boxes on any web page. Anyway, ads will not appear in those units even if you place more ad units. But this is the limit they set, so it is better to stick to it.

4. Do not run competitive contextual text ad or search services on the same site which offer Google AdSense competition in their field. Never try to creat link structures resembling the adsense ads. Never use other competitive search tools on the same pages which have Adsense powered Google search. They do allow affiliate or limited-text links. Update: Google has allowed you to run contextual advertising like Yahoo ads, Chitika etc provided the ads do not resemble Adsense ads.

5. Do not disclose confidential information about your account like the CTR, CPM and income derived via individual ad units or any other confidential information they may reveal to you. However, you may reveal the total money you make as per recent updates to the TOS.

6. Label headings as “sponsored links” or “advertisements” only. Other labels are not allowed. I have seen many sites label ads with other titles. Dont make your site a target in a few second gaze.

7. Never launch a New Page for clicked ads by default. AdSense ads should open on the same page. You may be using a base target tag to open all links in a new window or frame by default. Correct it now as they do not want new pages opening from clicked ads.

8. One Account suffices for Multiple websites. You do not need to create 5 accounts for 5 different websites. One account will do. If you live in the fear that if one account is closed down for violation of TOS, believe me they will close all accounts when they find out. You can keep track of clicks by using channels with real time statistics. They will automatically detect the new site and display relevant ads.

9. Place ads only on Content Pages. Advertisers pay only for content based ads. Content drives relevant ads. Although you might manage some clicks from error, login, registration, “thank you” or welcome pages, parking pages or pop-ups, it will get you out of the program.

10. Do not mask ad elements. Alteration of colours and border is a facility to blend or contrast ads as per your site requirements. I have seen many sites where the url part is of the same colour as the background. While blending the ad with your site is a good idea, hiding relevant components of the ads is not allowed. Also do not block the visibility of ads by overlapping images, pop ups, tables etc.

11. Do not send your ads by email. Html formatted emails look good and allow placement of these javascript ads. But it is not allowed as per TOS. You do not want impressions registration on their logs from any email even once. They are watching!

12. Keep track of your content. So Adsense is not allowed on several non content pages. But it is also not allowed on several content pages too. Do not add it on web-pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results. Also exclude any pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content.

13. Do not alter the results after ad clicks or searches - Ensure you are not in any way altering the site which the user reaches to after clicking the ads. Do not frame, minimize, remove, redirect or otherwise inhibit the full and complete display of any Advertiser Page or Search Results Page after the user clicks on any Ad or Search results.

14. Avoid excessive advertising and keyword stuffing - Although the definition of ‘excessive’ is a gray area and is subject to discretion, yet Google adsense with correct placement, focused content and high-traffic will get you much more income than other programs, so excessive advertising is not required. Keyword stuffing does target better focused ads, but overdoing it is not required.

15. Ensure you Language is Supported - Adsense supports “Chinese (simplified), Japanese, Danish, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, English, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian and Turkish”. In addition, AdSense for search is available in Czech, Slovak, and Traditional Chinese. If your web pages language is not supported, do not use the code on such pages.

Update:16. Maximum 2 referral button per product per page - With the launch of the google adsense referral program, you are allowed to put only 2 referral buttons for adsense referral, AdWords referral, Google pack and Firefox with google toolbar referral.

17. Do not specify Google ads as your alternate ads. - Several services like Chitika eminimalls allow you to place alternate urls, when a targeted paying ad cannot be displayed. This involved creating an simple html page and putting the ad to be displayed instead. Even Adsense allows an alternate url feature instead of displaying public service ads. But never use Adsense ads as alternate urls.

18. Do not confuse with adjacent images - It was a common policy to increase CTR by placing same number of images as the number of text ads, which falsely gave the impression that the text ads represented an explanation to these images. Inserting a small space or a line between the images and ads is not allowed. Make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors.

It’s really quite extraordinary, you have many shooting options which are built around a high-speed CMOS sensor, and a 26x megazoom lens. With this camera, you get photo and video shooting on high speeds, and the opportunity to play around with fun modes, plus you can experiment as much as you want. Add to that the fact that you get 1080p HD-quality movie recording. The Nikon Coolpix P100 has easy-to-operate controls; you just need some time to get used to them by reading the manual. The camera itself costs a fair amount, approximately 400 dollars – quite a large sum of money for many people. It weighs about 17 ounces, is of 10 megapixels, and comes with a 3-inch LCD screen.
So how’s the P100 different from the P90? Well, the zoom has been extended to 26x (so you can see really far ahead of you), and while the P90 had 12-megapixel CCD sensor, this particular model has a backside-illuminated 10-megapixel CMOS sensor. This improves the speed of shooting, and the level of noise in low-light photos is considerably reduced. In fact, you also get the option of a few specialty shooting modes. I always do experiments on test blogs so, I created a lot of mess with these test blogs and one day I decided to delete them and I did that. After some days, I noticed that there's a link on my Dashboard like this:

As you can see that there's an option Undelete this blog with every deleted blog. I clicked on Undelete this blog link of one of my deleted test blogs and Whoa!, my deleted blog is back again on my Dashboard. Hurray!

All posts of my recovered blog are there, layout is completely intact. You can also follow this simple method to recover your deleted blog.

Remember: Whenever you delete a blog, don't delete your account.

4. The third point of Privacy Policy states: Limitations : Any content on your Web site that is prohibited by the laws of any sovereign state, obscene under the laws of any sovereign state, or otherwise considered by hyperwebenable.com, in its sole discretion, to be offensive, disruptive, obscene, inappropriate or otherwise an administrative burden, may be removed or deleted without any compensation to you. This means that they hold the right to deleting your account if you tend to do anything illegal. It might also be the case that your account is terminated without any strong reason under this condition.
5. It might happen that when your website is flourishing, HyperWebEnable will sell off your domain name for a very high price, Earning a lot of profit for itself. [Remember you don't own the Domain name so you cannot do anything]
6. You cannot upgrade your platform. Example: If you wish to move to any other platform like Wordpress or Movable-Type in near future, then you wont be allowed to do so. You cannot carry the domain name and traffic to your new location.

Google is more than just a great search engine. Using Google Translate, you can bypass your (company, university, school) firewall or proxy server and access blocked websites.
Of course this is based on the premise that Google is not being blocked by your organization. I highly doubt that any admin would be so brave as to deny you access to Google!

On to business, here how to access blocked websites using Google:

- Open your web browser
- Type or copy the following into your browser address bar:

http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=en|en&u=www.blocked.com

- Be sure to replace www.blocked.com with the address of the site you want to access.
Example usage: If Facebook is being blocked by my organization I would type:

http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=en|en&u=www.facebook.com

- You will now be able to freely browse your previously 'blocked' website.

How this works is fairly simple. Using the above address, you tell Google to 'translate' a website of your choice from English to English (hence the /translate?langpair=en|en)

Google then fetches the website on your behalf, quickly 'translates' it for you and then passes it back to your web browser. This tricks your organization's proxy/firewall server as the website you requested effectively originates from Google (a trusted website) and not from a blocked website (Facebook in our above example)

By default, all blogger templates have the nofollow attribute enabled. This is done primarily to prevent comment spam (i.e people posting links to dodgy sites)

The nofollow attribute, when enabled, instructs search engine crawlers to not follow the link, thereby preventing spam content from being indexed.

This post will show you how to remove the nofollow attribute, thereby making your blogs comment section do follow! We do this because, any comment with a link in it will get counted as a backlink which increases the popularity of the site whose link was left. The more real links you have on other websites, the better for your site as search engines will count these links towards your sites popularity, which can greatly help boost your page-rank.

If your worried about spam, simply enable comment moderation in your blogger settings. Here's how to remove the nofollow attribute:

One of the most common misconceptions around AdSense is that more ads equal more money. This souldn't be further from the truth! Google AdSense has a feature known as Smart Pricing which sets the cost per click (CPC). Smart Pricing varies from site to siet and depends on various factors like domain age, page-rank, site relevance, page impressions and unique visitors.

Under performing ad units seriously damages your CPC. In short, pages with too may ads pay a lot less than pages with fewer. Furthermore, what liklehood is there of a visitor clicking one of your ads if you have them plastered in every available nook and cranny?? ZERO! People are not as ad oblivious as before and can see through a poorly created site with more ads than content!

Number 2
Many bloggers try to suck every possible cent out of their blog. There is nothing wrong in trying to generate revenue from your site, but how smart is it to place an AdSense Search Box on a new blog so new, it has yet to be crawled by Googlebots?

AdSense for Search is meant primarily for well crawled sites. I don't use AdSense for search because it drives traffic away from my blog and it pays too low.

Another misconception floating around is that image Ads pay more than text ads. This is not normally the case! Even it it were, image ads receive far fewer clicks compared to text ads. Images are also more of an intrusion into your visitors surfing experience when compared with text ads. So there is little point in using it!

This is true, a wake up call for all those who are earning by selling or buying links. This all those participating in Advertising Programs like Text-Link-Ads. This is an effort to stop buying Google Pagerank which is mainly based on incoming external links. The paid links reporting form is directly available in the dashboard of Google Sitemaps

How will Google punish?
A complete exclusion from Google´s SERPs is only one possible consequence of a spam report. Google might also choose to give a site a "yellow card" so that the site can not be found in the index for a short time. However, if a webmaster ignores this signal, then a "red card" with a longer-lasting effect might follow. So it's possible that Google is already aware of an issue and communicating with the webmaster about that issue, or that they have taken action other than a removal on a spam report.

Integrate Live Writer with New Blogger{Beta}

Recently, as many of you must be knowing, I've started publishing via Windows Live Writer on my Blogger.It saves me a lot of time, as I am using a slow Internet connection.somebody advised me to use Live Writer, so I downloaded it.Since its downloading there has been many glitches until its finally installed.I was looking for help on web but didn't get how to sort it out.So I am writing this post to provide a quick and easy guide how to make Live Writer work with New Blogger {Blogger beta}

It wasn't although these two steps involved some glitches, I'll point out some solutions of common errors

These all steps will finally run your installation but after some time, you'll get stuck up some where it asks you the Remote posting URL, and when entered , it says you are unauthorized

I was a bit sleepy today.I used to check my AdSense earnings on every odd day since I was in the nervous nineties. today, when I logged in, I felt happy that my gross earnings are now in 3 digits( for some of you, you can do so in a day) but for me its a good experience to be there for the first time.

Now, as I have crossed the minimum payout limit, I want to be nice with them.Earlier I was a naughty chap creating hundreds of channels and changing ad placement almost daily.I want to prove that this blog is visited by a high quality traffic.The best way to do so is to put up referral Ad units instead of the normal AdSense for Content Ad units.

I'll be going for non-Google referral 2.0 Ad units.Recently they implied a limitation on first few successful conversions done by a publisher.So far I have done one only one successful conversion.They will be probably remove the limitation once I do 5 more to to enable me full payments.

I'll be replacing the most visible Ad unit, the post inline one with a referral 2.0 Ad . If I don't receive any successful conversion till 31st October, I will opt out.If I do, I'll publish a report about it in this month's site report.

What others are saying?
Problogger Amit Agarwal revealed that Referral 2.0 Ads are doing a good job for him.But Amit, then why did you remove those ads from your entire network?

Google AdSense, few days back added a new feature in their AdSense program for all publishers.You may be knowing about this feature from a coming soon status message in your AdSense dashboard or from a sneak peek previous post from the AdSense Blog or from a Breaking news post from Problogger still here is a quick definition for it

This new ad management feature means that your ad unit settings (such as colors and channels) for new AdSense for content ad units will be saved in your AdSense account every time you generate ad code. Then, if you'd like to change any of these settings in the future, all you do is make the update within your account -- you'll no longer need to manually replace the ad code on all of your pages. For instance, you can quickly change the borders of all your 300x250 medium rectangles from red to blue with just a few mouse clicks.

As a blogger I think the key lies in experimenting with your Ad slots.For even changing the border of an Ad unit, I had to generate new ad code, parse it and then finally add the script to my XML template.This was a bit time consuming and a hectic process.This feature just makes the same results available with a few lesser mouse clicks.

I found this feature interesting and gave it one of my blog's slot.I always thought that perfectly blended ads performed much better than one having a distinct border and when I tried border for one day, the results amazed me(I only changed the colour pal latte). I saw a good spike in CTR and CPM.

It permits to change the colours of the Ad unit but not it's size.
Once the script is uploaded, it takes around 10 minutes for the Ad slot to deliver Ads.

I will be giving more slots to this new feature soon and I recommend you to do the same and experiment.

Blogger introduces inline comment form

The most annoying feature of blogger, the commenting system, has been finally been looked upon by the blogger team as it pushes out much desired inline comment forms out of the draft version of blogger. Good move, I would say though and as I anticipated, this would create a bit of mess for people like me who completely revamped their widget templates.With the help of some html tweaks, thankfully this blog now runs inline comment forms which I hope will increase the participation of those lazy people who simply hated that popup

If you too are running a heavily modified template, following html tweak might work for you
Important: I'm giving directions for widget templates and not for classic templates

First of all follow basic instructions given on blogger blog.Check your post page, if comment form is visible then no problems, but if not, then the following steps may help you out.

Step 1: Open your dashboard, Follow the Layout link, Select Edit HTML

Step 2: Backup your template(don't be lazy, this may prove very costly)

Step 3: Look for this line

and replace it with

Tip: For saving time, you can copy the html code to notepad, save it as a text file first and then use the find option to quickly jump to the required code.

Step 4: Save the template code, and have a look on any of your bog's postpage.

The topic must be very specific and should help people. We call it a Niche.
